A Health & Wellness Coach works with clients to achieve their goals and connect with their MAP (Mission, Aspiration, or Purpose). Through evidence-based behavior change strategies, psychology, and lifestyle medicine, HW Coaches assist clients in making sustainable change in areas of their own self-care and wellness such as physical, nutritional, spiritual, relationship and overall well-being. Mike received his Health & Wellness Coach training through the Veterans Administration Office of Patient Centered Care.
Mindfulness means purposefully paying attention to the present moment. It can help Veterans and their loved ones see things as they really are by observing—but not judging—their experiences. Mike received his CALM training with Dr. Christiane Wolf through the Veterans Administration.
Physical therapy, also known as physiotherapy, is a healthcare profession focused on restoring, maintaining, and improving a patient's movement and physical function. It addresses limitations caused by injury, illness, or disability through various techniques like therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and patient education. Mike graduated as a Honors Scholar from the University of Connecticut with a BS in Allied Health with a major in Physical Therapy.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) are professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance. Mike has been a CSCS for nearly 40 years.
Mike has completed multiple leadership training courses through the Veterans Administration to include LVA, LDI and Leadership Engagement Group. Leadership VA (LVA) is proactive and can amplify a common purpose, learning to lead through change. Leadership Development Institute (LDI) is a competitive program intended for healthcare professionals who desire to develop the competencies, knowledge, and skills necessary to become leaders. Leadership Engagement Group (LEG) is leaders within an organization who are actively involved in fostering employee engagement. Mike is also pursuing his Masters in Executive Leadership at Liberty University.
Mike has been involved in Whole Health through the Veterans Administration for 8 years. He served as a Whole Health Program Manager, Whole Health Clinical Director and Health & Wellness Coach. He was also training as a High Reliability Organization ambassador at the VA.
Mike served in the VA as the Integrated Ethics Program Officer to ensure the organization operates ethically and legally by overseeing compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies, and fostering a culture of ethical conduct. During COVID Mike served as the Scarce Resource Allocation (SRA) Team Leader and developed the SRA Team and assembled the Tertiary Triage Team.
